...pfft...
The Ukrainian no. 1 had a really bad day at the office, when the lad from Dnepropetrovsk forgot to use his TT bike and lended a Long John instead, for the purpose of securing his first spot in the YC during the Perm Tour. For a second year in a row, a VCB captain makes a terrible display during a TT, which proves crucial for the outcome of the race.
Team Mate, Guust van Camabelke was very surprised, when he wnet by his captain during the 48 km third stage of the race. The Belgian had started several minutes after his captain on a normal bike only to see the Ukrainian having the enclosed box of the Long John filled with ale and goodies as he enjoyed the countryside of Perm.
While this could call for a "rage quit", team management has become immune to these kinds of outcomes, which are becomming common news for Directeur sportif, Pelé. Pelé's response to local cycling press was "....pfft...." as he continued into the VCB Camp without further comments. Now one can only wonder if, Gerasim Filatov will try winning on the last 500 meters on a Long John as well, which could prove challenging for the rest of the Peloton.
